Underneath the Willow Tree

Strewn about all around,
Mossy leaves that trail to the ground,
Seeping sap pouring slowly from the tree’s hard skin,
Flowing like memories of moments that might have been,

Running my fingers along the damp leaves,
Closing my eyes as I finally feel at ease,
The rustling of the leaves on faint gust,
Soft ripples from the murky pond,
Soothing sounds fostering trust,
Slowly forming a steady bond,

Within the safety of the willow’s weeping,
A warm feeling overtakes me for the keeping,
My mind clears until it’s filled with the wallowing sounds,

A flock of birds in a gentle harmony,
And the cracking of the bark while I found,
A comfortable nook for resting against the tree,

Fading into a gentle sleep,
Underneath the tree that knows how to weep,
While I live in my dreamlike state,
Hoping that this is truly my well-deserved fate,

To find my heart again,
To know love’s embrace in the end,
Underneath the Willow Tree,
Rests my hopes of what’s to be.
