Darker Days

Finding a bit of hope in seemingly hopeless times.

What happy moments have come and passed,
The feeling now leaves you quite aghast,
The skies above seem to gray,
Empty feelings seem to pave the way,
To times of sadness, pain, and misery,
But this does not need to be,
Even in our darkest hour,
We always have the power,

Because we were not given this life to live with pain,
Living such a way with nothing to gain,
In the hearts of those we hold dear,
Rests a place where we can hold off our fear,
If we were made to suffer alone,
Like sinners never meant to atone,
Our hearts would not seek each out,

Our voices would not express our pain with a single shout,
When you find yourself with such a terrible hurt,
Those that love you will never desert,

For in their eyes,
You can wear no disguise,
They choose to love you for who you are,
Despite many of them bearing similar scars,

What it means to love someone,
Is not to play who holds the smoking gun,
But to bear the pain that lies inside of us,
Loving hearts that bear each other’s pain is a must,
So I simply ask you one small thing,
Let me be someone who supports your wings,

I will never let you fall,
What happens to your heart affects us all,
Who hold you dear in our most precious places,
Those that want to see you win all of your races,
Please accept that we hold you in our hearts,
And you’ll taste a love sweeter than any tarts,

Let these Darker Days,
Only pave your path toward happier ways,
